Day 9 Drive home
We got up and met for our complimentary breakfast at our Hotel. Proceeded to leave Hurricane at 7:15. Was a long drive today, 620 miles. Frank and Lloyd traded off driving but was brutal through the mountains. Lots of traffic and winding roads up and down the mountains. We went through Utah on highway 15 to 1-70, we saw Delano Peak and snow from yesterday. It was in the 40’s until Colorado then dropped in the 30’s.
We stopped in Fruita for lunch at Strayhorn Grill. Was delicious! Another good pick from Frank.
We drove through the Book of Cliffs, Fishlake National Forest,White River and we saw a dam through the mountains and lots of snow in Vail and Copper mountain. It was snowing and we saw lots of skiers coming down the mountains.
We arrived at our La Quinta in Denver at 5:45. Got settled and Frank found Ted’s Montana Grill to go to. We once had one at the Legends, but they closed. They are known for bison meat. I had chicken, Frank, Lloyd and Cindy had smash burgers. We all enjoyed!
Home tomorrow! We have gone through 8 states this trip. Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. Lloyd and Cindy went through 3 more to get our house , Missouri,Arkansas and Tennessee.
