Day 10 Home

We left La  Quinta in Denver at 7:15. It will be a straight drive home. We expect to see rain after Hays. Stopped in Hays at a Frank pick. TKsbar & Q.All they had was a buffet, which the sign said $14.00 per person so we got water and buffet. Was a little picked over. Had small salad bar, sausage, fried chicken, twice baked potatoes, beans, corn casserole (gone) mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. They had jello cake dessert. Was average. They brought our bill that was $44.11. Frank went up and protested.   Owner said Sundays and holidays was higher and then informed us that today was Easter, and Easter is a holiday. No signage to state that. Was the most we paid for lunch on our trip. 


We paid, then Frank flamed them in a Google review.    

We continued on 1-70 towards home. So we stopped at exit 252 for bathroom breaks and gasoline. Walked in to no power on the gas pumps  but we could use the bathrooms. Much to Cindy’s surprise, there was a man in an open stall peeping. She turned around to check on women’s sign and he turned around and said I am an idiot. Sorry and got out of there. Lol Onward  to find gas elsewhere.We continued to drive in rain. Drove 543 miles today . Made it home at 5:15. Drove a total 2,500 miles.

Grand Canyon - Day 3

We left Albuquerque NM at  8:30 AM  heading to Tusayan, AZ. We drove 408 miles. We stopped along the way at Tom and Susie Diner in Holbrook, AZ.    Food was ok. Nothing to write home about for local flavor.  As we made our way to Tusayan, we stopped and went through the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest National Park. We saw a mini Grand Canyon and lots of petrified wood. Stopped at a gift shop and that petrified wood is expensive. One polished slab had a  price  tag of $24,000.  Outside of Flagstaff, we saw the San Francisco mountain range. Some peaks still had snow on them.  We made it in time to drive to the Grand Canyon South Rim from our hotel, the Red Feather Lodge, only 5 miles from the south gate. Beautiful seeing the South rim. Day 8 - Zion

 We meet at 8:30 for our complementary breakfast at our Hotel. Left at 9:15 for the park. We drove 20 miles to entrance of the park. So happy we had a park pass from last year. We saw signs that parking lots were full but continued into the park . Frank decided to drive the Zion Mount Carmel Highway since no parking spots to be found. Was beautiful scenery all the way and we went through a mile long tunnel. We then turned around and went back to find parking to take the buses up. The bus had 6 stops. We decided to go to the top, then stop on the way down. Temple of Sinawava was the top.  We walked about a half mile took some pictures of the streams.And walked back to get on the bus and discovered each stop required hiking to see anything. The men do not like to hike, so it was a BUST. So we rode the bus back down to the entrance of the park then had to get on another one to get to our car. The buses were packed. Got to stand up all the way, on the way down we found seats....

Day 6 - Las Vegas

We got up and met the Wilsons at 8:30 for breakfast at the Luxor. Food was very good but $22 for two eggs, three strips of bacon and some toast is ridiculous. Add another $5 for coffee. We drove around to explore. Drove down Las Vegas Blvd. heading toward the stratosphere. Was thinking of going up it again (we did years ago for $5 each) but $22 each dollars just to go up  was a little too pricey for us.   We are going to see Shin Lim tonight at the Palazzo so we needed to scope out where to park for the show. Saw Trump tower, Circus Circus, Winn etc. drove very close to The Sphere. Ended up at the Bellagio. It has beautiful flowers everywhere. Took some picks of an area that was beautiful.  Cindy and I ended up playing video poker at the bar. Once again they comp'ed Frank and Lloyd’s drinks. We played awhile and ended up losing nothing. We continued to walk around found a new poker machine where you play lots of hands at once but we both lost $20. We walked outside and en...
